Home » Baseball News Rocky Mount will face East Rowan for the 3-A title July 28, 2008 By iHigh Staff of Rocky Mount High School BELMONT - Rocky Mount's baseball team now knows what team it will face in this weekend's NCHSAA 3-A state championship series. East Rowan came from a game down in its Western regional series to claim the title with a 3-2 win over Belmont South Point Saturday evening. South Point no-hit the Mustangs 1-0 on Thursday, but they turned the tables on the Red Raiders Friday by slamming South Point 17-2 in five innings. East Rowan will enter the championship series with a 28-3 record. It was the top-ranked 3-A team in the state in the final regular season ImpactBaseball.com poll. RMHS was No. 8. Rocky Mount (25-5) swept D.H. Conley 2-0 (11-1, 3-2) in the Eastern 3-A regional series. The venue and times are still not known for the series. Five County Stadium in Zebulon will be one of the locales for two championship series, but N.C. State's Doak Field's use for the other two could be in jeopardy. N.C. State's baseball team could receive a bid to host a sub-regional for the start of the NCAA Div. I baseball championship playoffs. Those bids will be announced by the NCAA Monday afternoon. The NCHSAA is expected to announce the complete championship schedule sometime late Monday. The only thing that is certain right now are the game times: BOTH CHAMPIONSHIP SITES: Friday: Game 1 - 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. Saturday: Game 2 - 11:00, 2:00.
